By the time AAT Forwarding is called, the standard process has usually already failed or cannot commit. What is needed is not another booking — it is someone taking the situation over.
What can make a legal or financial deadline critical
Some obligations cannot be met by a scan. Original signatures, notarised instruments, apostilled documents, bearer instruments and certain filings require the physical document to be present, and a filing window or closing time does not move because a courier was late. A missed deadline in this context is frequently not recoverable by a later delivery.
What usually needs to be established first
- Whether the original is genuinely required, or whether a certified copy satisfies the receiving party.
- Who is permitted to accept the document at the destination, and whether they must accept it personally.
- The receiving institution's cut-off time, which is often earlier than its closing time.
- Whether the chain of custody itself has to be documented for the transaction record.
Where the operational constraint usually sits
The binding constraint is the receiving party's deadline rather than the transport schedule, and traceability can matter as much as arrival. Where the document must not be handed into a network, personal custody from collection to a named recipient is what makes the movement defensible afterwards.

Which route this usually takes
If the item is in your hands, this is normally handled as a dedicated courier movement — On-Board Courier, or Next Flight Out OBC if it is ready now and the next suitable flight is the constraint. If it is being held by someone else — a hotel, a venue, a third party, a custodian — it is a Critical Asset Return.
