The defining condition

Ready now — and the departure governs everything.

Next Flight Out applies when two things are true at once: the shipment is under your control and ready to move immediately, and the next suitable flight is the constraint that the entire plan has to fit around. A dedicated courier still holds personal custody throughout — that does not change.

This is not air freight, and not "faster OBC"

Air freight hands your shipment to a network. NFO OBC keeps it with a named person. And an On-Board Courier movement can be planned in advance; NFO is what you need when the shipment is ready right now and the departure schedule is the governing fact.

The courier travels as a ticketed passenger on that commercial flight, and the shipment travels with the courier as accompanied baggage or hand luggage — subject to the applicable airline, security, customs and transport requirements, which we check against the actual routing before anything is confirmed.

The difference is the trigger: OBC when the shipment needs personal custody, whatever the timing. NFO OBC when it is ready now and the next suitable flight governs the plan.

Suitable, not simply earliest

The earliest departure on a schedule is not automatically the right one. A flight is suitable when the courier can realistically make it with the shipment, the routing works for the item, and the arrival actually serves your deadline. Where the earliest flight does not serve the deadline, we say so rather than book it.

How an NFO movement runs

Ready now

The shipment is ready.

It is packed, released and available for immediate collection or airport handover.

Routing

A suitable flight is identified.

Not merely the earliest departure — the one that genuinely serves the deadline.

Custody

The courier takes custody.

At the airport or at your location, documented from that moment.

Departure

It travels with the courier.

On the identified flight, in personal custody throughout.

Confirmed handover

It is handed to a named recipient.

Handover is evidenced and the case closes on that evidence.

Typical situations

When it is not NFO

If the shipment is not yet ready, it is an On-Board Courier movement planned around readiness. If the item is not in your hands at all, it is Critical Asset Return — and urgency does not change that.

What does Next Flight Out mean?

Next Flight Out OBC means the shipment is ready now and the next suitable flight is the operational constraint that governs the whole plan. A dedicated courier takes custody and travels with the shipment on that flight.

Is NFO OBC just a faster On-Board Courier?

No. Both use a dedicated courier holding personal custody. The difference is the operational trigger: NFO applies when the shipment is ready now and the next suitable departure is what everything else has to fit around.

What makes a flight suitable?

A flight is suitable when the courier can realistically reach it with the shipment, the routing works for the item, and the arrival serves your deadline. The earliest departure on a screen is not automatically the right one, and we will say so.

Can you confirm a flight before we book?

We confirm what is operationally possible rather than what looks possible. Routing is verified before it is promised.

How quickly can you have a courier on a flight?

There is no fixed answer, and we will not give you one before we have checked. It depends on where a suitable courier is at that moment, how quickly they can reach the shipment, what routing is available, and when a suitable commercial flight actually departs. Call us with the specifics and we will tell you what is realistic rather than what sounds good.

Next step

Ready now and the clock is running?

Call. We will identify what is genuinely reachable.
